The one (simple) question I always ask an entrepreneur is: Why?
Why this project?
Why now?
Why with this group of people?
Why this investment of money?
Who is the customer?
How will you capture your customer?
What’s the story?
And from there you can go into the details:
Why this particular feature set over another option?
Why mobile and not web?
…
Not being able to answer these questions will immediately disqualify you — as you haven’t deeply thought about the thing you’re doing. Answering them, even if only for yourself, will prepare you for the all the conversations you will have with your investors, customers, supporters and new hires.
Start asking yourself “Why?”.
