The other day one of our fellow Heretics asked me to give some pointers about the right time to scale your organization.
It’s an interesting question — as I believe that a lot of us obsess over the idea of scaling and thus put their organizations at great risk: Premature scaling is the number one cause for startups to fail.
To be honest: I wouldn’t worry about scaling at all but focus all my energy and attention on nailing my offering. Once you have truly nailed it (and only then) are you ready to scale. The interesting part: When this happens you will just know. Scaling will come naturally.
Until then: Obsess about getting your product or service right. Iron out all the kinks and make your customers deliriously happy.
