As part of the Singularity University Accelerator we brought, over some good food and wine, our startup founders together with the founders of companies we’ve been working with for a while.
I loved the ensuing conversations — it’s truly amazing to witness founders at the beginning of their journeys coming together with folks who have been doing it for a while and learn from each other. Especially when they all set out to truly make a dent in the universe — each in their own way.
The one piece of advice which stood out for me was the message each and every one of our accomplished founders had to bestow on the startups: Building a company takes time.
As much as success might look like something which happens over night — it is just not true. Success is nearly always the result of hard work. The type of hard work which requires you to show up day after day and do the work; often ignoring the internal and external voices telling you that what you’re trying to do, doesn’t work and will never work.
Luck favors the brave, strong and bold. Keep pushing. It will take time.
