Never forget: When you receive advice, when you read articles about how “entrepreneur X did it”, when you hear successful (and not so successful) entrepreneurs speak at conferences — whatever they tell you, whatever advice they give you, whatever wisdom they part on you:
There are no maps.
Actually — there are maps. But they are their maps. They are maps created from what worked for them, in their circumstances, based on their access to resources at the time. Understand that advice is highly contextual — time, people, location, resources…
That is not to say that you shouldn’t listen. But take what you learn and understand that you need to apply it to your own circumstances. Turn information into your own map and chart your own course.
