A little while ago I stumbled upon a quote by Howard Thurman: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Again and again, when I talk with people about their work, where they are in their lives and what they want to do, I see this magnificent transformation: They talk about the here and now and their faces are grey, their posture is slumped and their voice is flat. Then you ask them what they actually want to do — and their voice becomes animated, their gesture expansive, their face lights up. They are alive.
Why would you deny yourself the right (and pleasure) to be like that every day?
We want you to be alive. You are much more fun that way. :)
